About SASSA Guide

SASSA Guide is an independent information website created to help South Africans understand and navigate SASSA grants, the SRD R370 application process, status checks, appeals, and payment dates.

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), the Department of Social Development, or any branch of the South African government. We do not process applications, payments, or appeals on anyone’s behalf. For all official SASSA services, always use srd.sassa.gov.za or call SASSA’s toll-free line at 0800 60 10 11.

Why We Built This Site

Millions of South Africans rely on SASSA grants every month, but the process of checking status, understanding decline reasons, or submitting an appeal is not always clear from official communication alone. We started SASSA Guide to translate the process into plain language — what each status message means, what documents an appeal actually needs, and how to avoid common mistakes that delay payments.

How We Keep Our Information Accurate

Every guide on this site is researched against official SASSA and government sources, including the SRD portal, public SASSA communications, and the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA) process. We review and update our content whenever SASSA changes payment dates, grant amounts, or application procedures.

If you notice outdated or incorrect information anywhere on this site, please contact us — we want to fix it quickly.

Our Commitment

  • We will never ask you to pay a fee to “help” with your SASSA application or appeal.
  • We do not request your ID number, banking details, or OTPs through this website.
  • We link directly to official SASSA channels for every action that requires your personal information.
