Editorial Policy

Our Mission

SASSA Guide exists to help South Africans understand the SASSA SRD grant process in plain language — without the confusion, jargon, or guesswork that often comes with navigating government services. We are an independent informational website, not affiliated with SASSA or the South African Government.

How We Research Our Content

Every guide on this site is built from:

  • Official SASSA sources — the SRD portal (srd.sassa.gov.za), public SASSA communications, and government gazette notices on grant amounts and policy changes
  • The ITSAA appeal process — publicly documented procedures from the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals
  • Direct testing — where possible, we test status check methods, USSD codes, and portal steps ourselves before publishing instructions
  • User-reported patterns — common errors and decline reasons we see repeatedly mentioned by SASSA beneficiaries, cross-checked against official explanations

Our Editorial Standards

  • We do not publish unverified claims about grant amounts, payment dates, or eligibility criteria.
  • We clearly label any information that depends on circumstances changing (e.g., “amounts are reviewed annually”).
  • We do not use scare tactics, false urgency, or misleading claims to drive traffic.
  • We correct factual errors as soon as we identify them, and we note significant updates with a “Last updated” date on each guide.

What We Are Not

We are not SASSA. We do not process applications, payments, or appeals. We do not have access to anyone’s personal grant records. Every action that requires personal information (ID numbers, banking details, OTPs) happens exclusively on official SASSA channels — never on this site.

Corrections and Feedback

If you find an error on this site — outdated information, a broken link, or anything that doesn’t match official SASSA guidance — please contact us. We review and correct reported issues promptly.
