SASSA Appeal Status Check — How to Track Your SRD Appeal

Last reviewed: October 2026.

If your SRD R370 application was declined and you submitted an appeal, you can track its progress online. Here’s exactly how to check your SASSA appeal status and what each result means.

How to check your SASSA appeal status

  1. Go to srd.sassa.gov.za (the official SASSA SRD portal).
  2. Scroll to the “Application status” / reconsideration section — appeals are tracked in the same portal as applications.
  3. Enter your South African ID number and the cellphone number you used when applying.
  4. Your appeal status will display for the relevant month.

There is no separate appeal-tracking website. Anyone telling you to check your appeal on a different site or asking for payment is running a scam — appeal tracking is free on the official portal.

How long does a SASSA appeal take?

SASSA aims to finalise appeals within 60 to 90 days, but backlogs mean some appeals take longer. If your appeal has been pending for more than 90 days, you can:

  • Call the SASSA toll-free line on 0800 60 10 11 (Mon–Fri, 08:00–16:00)
  • Visit your nearest SASSA office with your ID
  • Escalate to the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals if the wait becomes unreasonable

The 90-day rule

You must lodge your appeal within 90 days of the decline decision. Miss that window and SASSA will not consider the appeal — this is the most common reason appeals show as “not found.”
