FAQs
- Is sassaguide.com affiliated with SASSA? No — we’re an independent information site, not affiliated with SASSA or the South African Government.
- Is this site free to use? Yes, completely free, and SASSA’s own services are always free too — never pay anyone claiming otherwise.
- How do I check my SASSA status? Visit srd.sassa.gov.za, or see our Status Check guide for every method including USSD and WhatsApp.
- What is the current SRD grant amount? R370 per month, unchanged since April 2024 and confirmed through March 2027 — see the SRD Grant Overview for full details.
- Does SASSA offer loans? No — SASSA only pays grants, never loans. Any “SASSA loan” offer is not legitimate. Read more on our What Is SASSA page.
- How do I report a SASSA scam? Email antifraud@sassa.gov.za or call 0800 60 10 11 directly — see our Contact Info guide for every official channel.
- Where do I apply for a SASSA grant? SRD applications are online at srd.sassa.gov.za; all other grants require an in-person SASSA office visit. Full steps in our Application guide.
- What if my application was declined? Check the specific reason and gather the right documents — our Appeal guide covers every decline reason with ready-to-use templates.
- The identity verification link isn’t working — what do I do? This is a known, common issue, not just you — try again later when traffic is lower, or visit a SASSA office in person if it keeps failing. See our Errors & Troubleshooting guides.
- My grant is blocked and I’m desperate for money — should I borrow from a loan shark (mashonisa)? Please don’t. Informal lenders often charge 50% interest or more, and a delayed grant is temporary — that debt isn’t. Call 0800 60 10 11 to push for a resolution, or visit your nearest SASSA office in person.
